E.L.F Waterproof Eyeliner Pen Review

E.L.F Waterproof Eyeliner Pen ($1) Get no smudge with no-budge eyeliner, which creates a fabulous and fresh look of precision that lasts for hours. The smooth pen applicator easily glides on color for very fine to bold lines for effortless beauty.

My Thoughts:

I’m not a big fan of this liquid liner. I found the application uneven. The pen would dry out in the middle of the application. As a result, I would end up with a fading line. I would have to go over it again to try to even up the pigmentation. I have this in black and I found the color didn’t come out truly black. It was more of a faded, greyish black. To get the color to a be true black, I had to layer it on a few times. I also felt the consistency was a little thin/watery. Maybe that is why it the color isn’t very pigmented.  When I removed it, it came off in clumps. It was rather strange. I’ve never experienced this with an eyeliner before. It reminded me of removing mascara with the tubes/fibers. On the positive side, the liquid liner is waterproof as advertised. It did last the whole day for me with very minimal fading. If you want to practice and master the art of applying liquid liner, this liner would be perfect. It will only cost you $1. I personally wouldn’t repurchase this to add to my collection.

  • I agree. This is not a good liner. It ran dry on my quickly. And the tip is rather sharp and hard. There are much better liquid liners out there. I do like the pen format, makes it easier to control, that is, if the color actually come out!

I’m really surprised that this didn’t work for you! The tip softens up after a while, and the pen’s never run out out half way through the line for me, and it always comes out a true black. It also removes fine for me! I know others who really like this liner, so maybe you had a faulty pen?

    Lily-

I’m hoping mine was a faulty pen because I really like e.l.f and the majority of the products I have tried from e.l.f are great.

  • Thanks for the review. At least now I know that conventional eyeliners are still the way to go.

  • Bleurgh, the whole running-out-of-product-mid-line thing is what puts me off pen style liners, though they look like they’d be a helluva lot more easier to use :(

      SilhouetteScreams-

i think pen style liners are easier to use, but most are hits or misses because they come out like ink pens. And you know how sometimes your using a pen and your writing and it just runs out? Yup. Same exact thing with a liner pen. But some are great. I just have to hunt them down.

I’d be interested to know which pens are the best. I’m a total newbie when it comes to these types of liners!
