My Thoughts:
Lauren Conrad Style is an 11 chapter, 230 page how-to book. Lauren covers all kinds of topics regarding style from head to toe. She covers topics like how to shop, how to style a piece of clothing to make it look different every time, how to pack, and the basic pieces everybody should have. She even includes beauty and hair chapters!
I’ve been on the fence about whether I should purchase the book. I’ve heard and read mixed reviews, but I’ve been a fan of Lauren’s since the Laguna Beach days. I finally gave in when I was able to get the book for half the retail price. I didn’t find the book entirely helpful. A lot of the info she presented I already knew. What I really like about the book is the photos. I’m a sucker for photos. Her book is full of pretty photos! Every page has photos. Of course the photos are of her, but still….I also like that Lauren doesn’t push or mention a certain brand or product. It allows the reader to work with what they have and can afford.
Overall, the book is an easy read. I was able to finish it under an hour. I thought the book was very personable and relateable. She includes little bits of info about her likes and dislikes and personal experiences and mistakes. The book is for the type of person who likes simple, clean looks. It’s also a fun book to have and to pull out for inspirations.
Check out photos from the hair and makeup chapters!
I don’t want to give the whole book away, so here are just a couple of photos.

I just bought this on Saturday and I also find that most of the tricks I already knew, but I think it is kinda good to have them in the same book. I really have to agree on the pictures, I wanted to book for inspiration, and I got it!

haha awesome! i’m not the only who says the tips she gives are not ground breaking
I am also a sucker for photos! I may buy the book just for that, haha

I think in a way it would be good to read about tricks you already knew, just to have the reassurance that you’re doing it right! (For me, anyway)

Wow. she’s so stylish. She’s famous for that goddess braid ^.^
she is. i call it the LC braid now haha
I’m usually quite leery of books by Reality Stars whose intellect and personal integrity seems dubious (at least to me), but reading the reviews and pundit reactions (and your review) of her book, despite reviling her public brand, I really am curious about this book.
I do love her easy sense of style. It seems accessible and effortless, and personally, she does seem approachable–even if her personal choices on her show left a little to be desired (for me). This is a great review, and I might just have to pick it up next time I’m at Borders!

that’s what i did. i went to barnes and noble and checked out the book before i bought it
You know, I picked up this book at target and wanted to buy it, but after looking through it, I figured it’d be nice to have but not necessarily that useful, it’s not something I don’t already know or something that I could achieve with a quick google search. But I agree that it’s nice to have it all compiled together in one. Plus it makes a great present for a friend who might not be so obsessed with makeup as we do, especially since it also covers other styling tips which is always useful too.
