Hello, San Diego

Hello! How are you doing? It’s been awhile since I’ve done a blog post about what I’ve been up to. Out of curiosity, did you notice I was rather quiet in the social network world for the past couple of weeks? Probably not since I’m pretty quiet in the first place :P

For the past couple of weeks, I was holed up in the my room studying for final exams. As soon as final exams were over, a group of us took a relaxing weekend trip to San Diego. I thought I would share with you some photos from my trip.

Check out photos from my trip to San Diego! Warning: proceed with caution. You may get super hungry after viewing the photos.

On the way to San Diego, we dropped by Carlsbad Premium Outlet. This outlet is okay. I was hoping to be able to snag a tote from Coach, but I couldn’t find one that fit my needs. The only thing I bought at the outlet was a scarf from Van Heusen. There’s a CCO (Cosmetics Company Outlet) there, but none of the makeup in stock caught my eye.

First stop in San Diego was Coronado. Coronado is a really pretty island. We stopped by Hotel Del Coronado (gorgeous!) and walked along the streets checking out the little shops. All the walking and site seeing made me hungry. So what did we do?

Eat of course! We had lunch at Burger Lounge. Very yummy!

After Burger Lounge, we headed to downtown San Diego to check out some sites and do a little shopping.

Finally time to check into our hotel: Westgate Plaza Hotel. It was a really nice hotel with French decor. Super fancy. I was able to get a $200+ room for $62. Thank you Priceline!

We rested for a bit and then headed out to dinner at Phil’s BBQ. Guess how long the wait for Phil’s BBQ was. Almost 2 hours and that’s us getting there at a little past 5 pm! When I saw the line outside of Phil’s BBQ my eyes went like this: O.O Was the wait worth it? Yes! The food was de-li-cious and you get so much! The ribs are so tender and juicy. Oh man, I’m drooling just thinking about the food…

PS check out my dainty pinky action as I eat my pork sandwich

FYI Phil’s BBQ was featured on one of my favorite shows: Travel Channel’s Man v. Food.

After dinner, we went to get dessert at Extraordinary Desserts. The wait to eat there was long too so we just got our desserts to-go. We ended up with a cheesecake, carrot cake, and Tres Leches.

FYI Extraordinary Desserts was featured on one of my favorite shows: Food Network’s The Best Thing I Ever Ate.

For you Hello Kitty fans.

The next day for breakfast we headed to Hash House A Go Go. Lucky for us, we got there before 8am to avoid the long wait. By the time we finished, there was a long line waiting to get in and this was only 9:30am! If you ever have a chance to eat at Hash House, do it. It’s yummy! There’s a location in Las Vegas too (it was featured on Man v. Food).

PS I don’t know why I look so crazed next to my breakfast. I think it’s because of the humongous size of the pancake! Everything there is super-sized. I didn’t finish my breakfast, but I did eat more than half.

Overall, it was a really good trip filled with lots and lots of yummy food! Can you tell I love watching the Travel Channel and Food Network? I’m addicted to food shows! Have you ever been to San Diego?

You def need to try the Moo Time Ice cream inside the hotel del (Hotel del Coronado for short, what the locals call it)they have the most amazing apple pie ice cream and a couple of blocks from the Horton Plaza and the airport is little Italy (India Street) and the greatest mom and pops restaurant It’s called Filippis Pizza and there are a lot of great little boutiques around too.
And the best place to eat in san diego is Bandar right in front of Horton Plaza (4th Avenue)Try the adas polo (chicken with saffron and berry rice) it’s sooo goood and the food there is not heavy and super healthy.

  • I LOVE San DIego!!!! I live about an hour away. It’s great. I’ve never actually been to Phil’s BBQ, but my parents have brought some home to go. It’s soooo yummy! I went to Hash House A Go Go for the first time w/ my brother & sister in March. We had dinner & tried the famous Andy’s Sage Fried Chicken & Bacon Waffle Tower. It was soooo good. Horton Plaza is one of my fave places to shop. I love that it’s open & has 5 levels. It’s nice to go to the city every now & then. The suburbs are so boring. Haha.
