Everybody has makeup stashed away somewhere that they say they sometime use or will use. This is just code for: I’ll use it when I figure out how to or I shouldn’t have bought it, but I’m too lazy to return. Been there. Done that. I’m sorry to say that probably by the time you decide to pull out the makeup you stashed away months ago or even years ago may not be any good anymore. So how long do you have before you have to chuck the mascara, foundation, eyeshadow, or nail polish?

Good for up to 4 months. Tip: don’t pump the wand in and out. This will dry out your mascara quicker, because you’re exposing the product to drying air.

Today’s lesson?

  • Don’t hoard makeup
  • Don’t buy 50 million backups of your favorite products
  • Buy only what you will use

All this can be quite costly since the products will expire and/or go bad before you get to use it.

Now if only I can follow my own advice…
