Manicure Monday: Lunar New Year Nail Art

Share

Chuc Mung Nam Moi! That’s how you say happy new year in Vietnamese. I know I’m late on posting Lunar New Year nail art since Lunar New Year was February 10, but I still wanted to share. The photos above are the nail art I did for myself and my sister. I kept with tradition and used red and gold. You gotta right? :)

Find out how I created each design!

If you follow me on Twitter, Facebook, and/or Instagram you’ve already seen this photo. I decided to attempt nail tape one more time. I think I’m finally getting the hang of it. The gold base color is Zoya Jules and the red is Nailtini Bloody Mary.

For my sister’s nails, I did a different design and used a different shade of red and gold. The red shade is Essie First Dance and the gold is Revlon 900 Gold Get ‘Em. To create the heart, I just used a piece of tape and made a heart stencil. You can see a tutorial here.

I think I won’t be using red nail polish for awhile. After Valentine’s Day and Lunar New Year, I’ve been overloaded with red. Also, I’m sure you want to see other colors by now. I think I will start with Spring nail art now. I need some color. How about you?

I tried something similar to what you did on your hand, but with cello tape but it was a complete fail! lol. I couldn’t cut the cello tape thin enough so I just ended up with thick stripes which didn’t look good! Should get my hands on some striping tape and try again.

You’ve done an amazing job though!
