How To Create Golden Olive Smoky Eyes

Share

I received numerous emails asking me to do a picture tutorial on how I created the Golden Olive Smoky Eyes EOTD. Apologies for the bad blending job. I was in a rush again. Just in case you don’t remember what it looked like, here’s the picture:

Products I Used

  1. Eyeshadow. I used L’oreal Hip Eyeshadow Duo in Gilded. One half is a gold eyeshadow and the other half is a dark chocolate brown. For some reason when these two colors are mixed together it makes a hint of olive green. I think the gold has a hint of a olive undertone.
  2. Eyelash curler. I used Shiseido Eyelash Curler.
  3. Mascara. I used Maybelline The Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara in Black.
  4. Eyeliner. I used Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero.
  5. Eyeshadow primer. I used Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer.
  6. Eyeshadow Brush. I used MAC eyeshadow brush #252. It’s a fluffy shadow brush.
  7. Angled Eyeshadow Brush. I used MAC Angled Eyeshadow Brush #275. It’s not a stiff angled brush. It’s bit fluffy.
  8. Blending Brush. I used MAC Blending Brush #217. You can use a fluffy eyeshadow brush. That will work too.
  9. Flat Eyeshadow Brush. I used MAC eyeshadow brush #212. It’s a stiff brush.

How To Wear Gold Eyeshadow

Share

You guys voted for the next picture tutorial to be how to wear gold eyeshadow and here it is:

Gold eyeshadow is a great way to bring attention to your eyes without being dramatic. It also compliments bronzed/tanned skin. Perfect for summer! This look is perfect for the daytime. If you want to turn it into a nighttime look, all you have to do is layer on more of the color.

(I apologize for the dark under eye circles. I haven’t gotten much sleep this whole week, and I was too lazy to put on makeup and cover them up.)

Update: I got a better camera. So, I will be redo-ing this tutorial. I’m hoping this time the colors will show up much better. This is tutorial is so blah!) Here is the redo.

I used Urban Decay Get Baked Palette to achieve this look.

How To Do A Simple Smoky Eye

Share

Here’s a picture tutorial on how to do a simple smoky eye. It doesn’t take very long. I was able to complete this look under 10 minutes.

This is a monochromatic smoky eye. It’s not very shimmery or so dramatic so it’s perfect for the daytime (and nighttime too).

Update: You’ll notice as the tutorial progresses, my eye gets a little redder and redder. It’s because I kept accidentally poking myself in the eye while trying to take the pictures. Silly me.
