When To Throw Out Makeup

Everybody has makeup stashed away somewhere that they say they sometime use or will use. This is just code for: I’ll use it when I figure out how to or I shouldn’t have bought it, but I’m too lazy to return. Been there. Done that. I’m sorry to say that probably by the time you decide to pull out the makeup you stashed away months ago or even years ago may not be any good anymore. So how long do you have before you have to chuck the mascara, foundation, eyeshadow, or nail polish?

Makeup Brushes: Synthetic vs. Natural

Share

Synthetic brushes contain less pores than natural brushes so they are flat. Less pores means less permeable to water, air, etc. Since the bristles are less absorbent, they are more ideal for liquid and cream foundations, concealers, cream blushes, cream eye shadows, and lip color. You don’t want a brush that will soak up the liquid or cream and not deposit any on your face.

Natural brushes aka “sable,” are more porous than synthenthic brushes. The bristles are more flexible and ideal for picking up powder blushes, face powder, and powder eyeshadows.
