Too Faced Shadow Insurance Review

Share

Too Faced Shadow Insurance ($17) This is your full-coverage insurance policy against all fading, creasing, melting, blurring, oil slicked, and hard-to-blend eyeshadow accidents. Our silicone based eyeshadow primer transforms any eyeshadow into a perfectly blendable, color-drenched, intensified version of itself, then locks it down perfectly until you take it off. This soothing formula evens out the skintone on your lids and smoothes lines while securing a barrier between the oils of your skin and your makeup, so no shadow catastrophes will ever happen again.

My Thoughts:

Pros:

Cons

  • its got a greasy feel/texture
  • the product separates. Sometimes when you squeeze the tube, oil comes out first then the primer

Benefit Stay Don’t Stray Review

Share

Benefit Stay Don’t Stray ($24) This dual-action power primer works 360° around the eyes to make concealers AND eyeshadows STAY PUT. Concealers don’t crease, eyeshadows stay vibrant and true…you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it!

neutral nude shade is universally flattering

custom airless pump is sooo easy to use? just a dab’ll do ya!

My Thoughts:

NO NO NO NO! NO! I’m sorry to say Benefit’s Stay Don’t Stray is not a very good product. Truthfully, I did not notice a difference between using Stay Don’t Stray and not using a primer at all. As you know, I have super oily lids so primer is a must for me. This primer was not able to keep the eyeshadow from creasing and fading. I think it made the creasing worse. Is that possible? I know people have complained about the pump dispensing too much product, but I didn’t encounter this problem. Instead of pushing the pump all the way down, I only pushed the pump maybe 1/3 way downward. Just enough to dispense a drop.  A good thing about the primer is that it did even out my eyelid’s skin tone. Overall, it is best to avoid Benefit’s Stay Don’t Stray. There are so many eyeshadow primers on the market that are much cheaper and work much better.

NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base Review

Share

NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base ($24) A lightweight primer that creates a seamless canvas that keeps cream and powder eye color looking brilliant, fresh, and just-applied all day.
This smudge-proof eyeshadow base uses a unique polymer and mineral powder blend to get a firm grip on color for long-lasting, gorgeous wear. Fortified with a special deep-sea extract and an antioxidant rice extract, it dries on contact and keeps the delicate eye lid smooth and ready for eyeshadow application.
Ophthalmologist and dermatologist tested. Fragrance free.

My Thoughts:

This is a gel-like primer that does an excellent job of keeping eyeshadow and eyeliner stay put and crease free. It also goes on colorless! I love that it isn’t sticky and is matte. The primer keeps the color of the eyeshadow and eyeliner staying vibrant too. I have to say $24 is quite expensive, but a little goes a long way. I haven’t decided if it’s better than Urban Decay’s Primer Potion or Too Faced Shadow Insurance, but it is another eyeshadow primer you can try if Urban Decay and Too Faced didn’t work for you.

Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer Review

smashbox-photo-finish-lid-primerSmashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer ($20)

What it is: An ultra-luxurious lid primer.

What it does: Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer creates the perfect canvas for eyeshadow application. Wear this universal shade under shadow to increase longevity, or create the perfect nude eye by applying over the lid for an even tone.

What Else You Need To Know: The exclusive formula contains Phytomoist, a plant-based hyaluronic acid for ultimate moisturization and amino acids for skin-smoothing benefits. Soft focus pearls help diminish the appearance of fine lines on the lids while the patented Qusome® delivery system ensures all ingredients penetrate the skin to deliver effective results.

My Thoughts:

Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer is sold exclusively at Sephora. I really like this primer, because it evens out the skin color of my lids. Sort of like a concealer, but not. It doesn’t work as long as Urban Decay Primer Potion, but Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer does work. I experienced no fading, creasing, or smudging of my shadow or liner. My favorite thing about this Smashbox primer is that I can wear it alone. This definitely works better than Smashbox Lip and Lid Primer and is cheapr too!

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Review

Share

urban-decay-eyeshadow-primer-potion Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer ($17) This miracle eyeshadow primer is unmatched by any other in the beauty industry! The genie in this bottle fulfills three wishes: eyeshadow that lasts, more vibrant and lasting color, and absolutely NO creasing. Apply Primer Potion to lids before shadow application. It dries down almost instantly (and invisibly), creating smooth lids that are super powered eyeshadow magnets.

The formula is full of silicone, which you beauty mavens know makes for a smooth and silky application. Packaged in a pretty genie bottle, our Potion applies with a magic wand and flocked applicator.

My Thoughts:

I’m not sure why it took me so long to write a review for Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer. I guess it’s because everybody already knows how great it is. It comes in 2 shades, Original (purple bottle) and Sin (gold bottle). Original is a sheer color while Sin has some shimmer. When I use this, it makes my shadows last so long with no creasing. It also makes my shadows appear more pigmented and not fade away. The primer actually performed exactly the way it was advertised. I would have to say this is one of the best, or possibly the best, eyeshadow primer I have ever used.
