FAIRYDROPS Scandal Queen Mascara Review and Photos

FAIRYDROPS Scandal Queen Mascara ($24) A volumizing, water- and sweat-resistant mascara with a brush so unique it is patented in Japan. This do-it-all mascara is blended with fiber to give you lush, doll-like lashes. The unique brush catches even the tiniest lashes, defines, lengthens, and provides all-day curl. FAIRYDROPS mascara was created by Japanese TV personality Aya Yasuda. Realizing that the eyes are the secret to making a great impression, she was inspired to create a new mascara wand that is now patented in Japan. The Scandal Queen formula is available exclusively in the U.S.

My Thoughts:

Fairydrops Scandal Queen mascara is better at lengthening than adding volume. Even though it did add some volume to my lashes, I didn’t notice it as much as I noticed the extra length it added. What lengthens your lashes and adds volume are the fibers/tubes in the mascara. I found it worked best if only 1 or 2 coats was used. Layer on more than that and you’ll get clumps. The formula is just too wet to layer. Because the mascara has a wet formula, it couldn’t hold a curl. The wand is very interesting. I’ve never seen a mascara wand that curved and have 3 bumps before. The design did not help combat the problem of clumping. I think it made it worse. The mascara wand would collect too much mascara. The one major thing I didn’t like about the Fairydrops Scandal Queen mascara is that the fibers/tubes flake off your lashes. By the end of the day I had tiny flakes all over my under eye and some even in my eye! Overall, I don’t think this mascara is all that great. I can find drugstore mascaras that have the fiber/tube formula that work better.

Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream Review, Photos, and Swatches

Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream ($29.99 for 50mL) Blemish Balm, also called BB Cream, is known to have been formulated as an after-treatment cream to help patients who have gone through laser skin surgery to soothe and regenerate the skin.

The M Perfect Cover BB Cream gives an even and natural-looking coverage with the soothing, moisturising properties of a cream. It is suitable for all skin types including acne-prone skin, and can be used as a makeup base or foundation.

My Thoughts:

Finally a BB Cream that comes in a shade for tanned skin! Unlike other BB Creams, Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream has a range of shades. It comes in 4 different shades: #13 Milky Beige, #21 Light Beige, #23 Natural Beige, and #31 Golden Beige. I have #21 and #23. I’m thinking I should have gotten #31 also because I know I will get a tan during summer and #23 will be too light. For now, #23 is perfect for me. #21 is more of a winter shade. #13 is just way too pale for me no matter the season.

Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream has a thick texture that provides a light to medium coverage. It’s thicker than a tinted moisturizer but not quite like full coverage foundation. It’s sort of like a light foundation. I read people had difficulty blending because of the thick texture. I didn’t have any difficulty. I used my fingers to blend so the warmth from my fingers probably melted the cream a bit to make it thinner.  It gives your skin a semi-matte finish. I want to say a bit dewy too. When you first apply the BB Cream, you will notice it leaves a grayish cast. Don’t worry. Give the BB Cream about half an hour to oxidize, and the grayish color will disappear. Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream doesn’t have super long lasting powers, but it does last for a good 5-6 hours. I haven’t been using it long enough to determine whether it help better improve my skin so I can’t comment on that. However, I can say I haven’t had a breakout since I started using it. It didn’t irritate my skin either even though there is a fragrance. The BB Cream has a fresh floral scent. It’s not very strong, but it’s there.

The size I have is 50mL and it comes with a pump. I have a love-hate relationship with the pump. Yes, the pump makes for cleaner dispensing, but it makes it difficult to control how much to pump out. You can’t stop mid-pump because it’s too difficult. But I can’t complain too much because one pump is the perfect amount to cover my whole face. A little truly goes a long way. I have a feeling a 50mL tube is going to last me a whole year.

Cellnique Review and Photos

Cellnique Advanced Bio Renewal Masque ($51) This unparalleled scrub masque is formulated with bio-captured fresh fruit enzymes and acids complex. It works effectively in exfoliating dead cells, optimizing cellular renewal performance and deep pore cleansing, thus revealing a softer, fresher and healthier skin.

Cellnique Derma Brightening Complex ($45) Formulated with liposamal Willow Bark Extract and Vitamin C, this strongly-effective yet gentle formulation works excellent on skin discoloration, dull and uneven skin tone, restores skin’s luminous glow without provoking any skin irritation or peeling. Unprecedented clarity radiates from within.

My Thoughts:

Cellnique’s Advanced Bio Renewal Masque is a clay mask with tiny, little grains. The tiny, little grains don’t scratch your face or leave your face feeling raw. The masque itself has a fresh yogurt-like smell with a slight hint of soy sauce. It’s a strange smell, but it’s not very strong. You only smell it when you’re applying  the masque. When you apply the masque, the rubbing you do allows the grains to exfoliate your skin. The grains also exfoliate your skin when you wash off the masque. I left the masque on for about 15 minutes. During those 15 minutes, I could feel a tingling. It wasn’t bothersome or irritating, just noticeable. While waiting for the masque to dry, it didn’t dry to the point where you couldn’t move your face. Washing the masque off was very easy. All I needed was a wash cloth and water. The masque helped my skin look more even toned and not so blotchy. Also, it left my face feeling super soft and smooth. You only need to use the masque at night a couple times a week.

After using Cellnique’s Advanced Bio Renewal Masque, I would apply Cellnique Derma Brightening Complex. I used Cellnique Derma Brightening Complex every day, in the morning and at night. Even though the Derma Brightening Complex looks oily, it’s not. There was no irritation or unpleasant smell. I may have imagined this, but to me it had a vanilla/bakery scent. After you apply the Derma Brightening Complex, it leaves a sticky/tacky feeling while it is being absorbed into your skin. After it is absorbed (takes a minute or two), the sticky/tacky feeling disappears. A little advice: wait for the serum to fully absorb before applying makeup. If you don’t, the serum will cling to the makeup and cause the makeup to ball up. Cellnique Derma Brightening Complex helped my face look brighter and more awake. It also made my face feel very soft and smooth. This may be because my face is on the oily side, but I didn’t need to follow up with a moisturizer since Cellnique Derma Brightening Complex provided enough moisture. I also noticed my face was less oily too.

Overall, I really liked Cellnique’s Advanced Bio Renewal Masque and Derma Brightening Complex, minus the smell of the masque. It did everything it was suppose to do. It helped even out and brighten my skin tone, fade acne scars and dark spots, and left my face feeling soft and smooth. I just wish the price wasn’t so high.

Kio Kio Rainforest and Koromiko Body Mist Review and Photos

Share

Kio Kio Rainforest and Koromiko Body Mist ($32) ‘On the go’ instant rejuvenation. Spray the gentle mist directly on your skin to soften, energize and rehydrate as often as desired, without leaving an oily texture. Pure, mineral-rich, organic New Zealand spring water, native botanical extracts and beautiful perfume oils refresh the skin, while panthenol, aloe vera, witch hazel and natural glycerin condition the skin.

My Thoughts:

The Kio Kio Rainforest and Koromiko Body Mist goes hand-in-hand with the Kio Kio Rainforest and Koromiko Lotion. I used the Kio Kio Body Mist after applying the Kio Kio Body Lotion whenever I wanted to intensify the fragrance. I also used the body mist on it’s own whenever I wanted a hint of fragrance. The scent was not overwhelming. Instead, it was light and subtle. I was quite surprised how moisturizing the body mist was. I was also glad that the body did not dry out my skin like most body mists do. I also really like the packaging. It’s very simple and pretty. It’s also recyclable!

Note: the body mist contains floating flecks. If it bothers you, just give the bottle a little shake and it’ll disappear.
