My Thoughts:

I am so glad I found the Stila One Step Correct. Instead of having to buy green, yellow/peach, and purple correctors, it’s all in one bottle! Plus, it’s a primer! It helped with evening out skintone , brightening your complexion, and oil control. When I applied the corrector, I noticed a pleasant cooling feeling. It was quite relaxing. The subtle shimmer the corrector has helped create a healthy glow. I love how it feels so light and is absorbed very quickly. It doesn’t feel like other primers on the market. It’s more of a gel-like serum. It’s a pricey primer, but a little goes a long way.

NARS Makeup Primer SPF 20 ($33)

What it is:
A lightweight, fast-absorbing, sunscreen-infused foundation primer.

What it is formulates to do:
Moisturizes and prepares the skin for flawless makeup application as it protects the skin from environmental damage.

My Thoughts:

Truthfully? I was disappointed. When something costs $33 and is made by NARS, you expect quality performance. I don’t think it made my makeup last throughout the day and it made me look so oily and greasy! I also didn’t like how watery/runny it is. I don’t think this is for people with oily skin. It could possible work for people with normal and/or dry skin.

Shiseido The Makeup Matifying Veil SPF 17 Review

Shiseido Matifying Veil SPF 17 ($33.50) A colorless-finish foundation that minimizes the appearance of pores and leaves a completely matte finish. Contains Oil-Absorbing Powder to keep skin shine-free and improve the wear of makeup. Maintains a comfortable fresh feeling with its light, silky texture. Contains Multi-Nutrient Factor, an advanced moisturizer and energizer.

My Thoughts:

I love Shiseido, but this is one product of theirs I will not be buying again. It left a white cast and did not matify. This product is like hard wax. It was not easy to blend or to apply. I really have to rub/dig my fingers into the product to get some out. The sponge that came with it is useless because the matifying veil is to hard to pick up. When I put it on under my makeup, my makeup did not go on smoothly. This went right back to Shiseido and thumbs down from me.

Philosophy The Supernatural Poreless, Flawless Tinted SPF 15 ($30) is listed as a “tinted moisturizer” at Sephora, but on the Philosophy website it is listed as a “primer.” I initially wanted a tinted moisturizer so I gave The Supernatural Poreless, Flawless Tinted SPF 15 a try. The Supernatural provides a sheer coverage, so sheer it did nothing for me. Even though it’s oil-free, it had an oily feel when I put it on my face and left me shiny mid-way through the day. So, as a tinted moisturizer, it failed. I decided to give it one more try as a primer. It failed at that too. It added an orange tint to my skin color, and I don’t think it helped my foundation go on smoother. I’m not going to buy this tinted moisturizer/primer again.

Smashbox Photo Finish and Twilight Freshface Glow Primer Review

It’s that time of the year when the season starts to change. Do you know what that means? New makeup! I don’t like to use the same kinds of primer for winter and spring. I feel your skin changes as the weather changes so your makeup should change too. Every morning after I wash my face, I always moisturize. It’s important to moisturize before you put on makeup to avoid dry patches, and it’s easier to blend foundation into moisturized skin. After moisturizing, I put on my primer. I know some people feel primer is useless, but I feel primer allows the foundation to go on smoother and makes it last longer. During the fall/winter, I was using Smashbox Photo Finish Light Foundation Primer ($36). It’s great for acne-prone, sensitive, or oily skin.

Now that spring is approaching, I want a more freshed-face dewy look. A great primer for this look is Fresh Twilight Freshface Glow ($36). It is also light-weight. You can’t even tell you have it on! A little goes a long way, so a tube will last you months. I also use this as a highlighter. I love how it is not glittery like most highlighters are.

These products are very easy to find. You can buy them off the Smashbox or Fresh website. I find it best to test out the products in person before purchasing. You can find Smashbox at Sephora, Ulta, department stores, and other beauty specialty store locations. Fresh you can find at Sephora or at their store locations.
