NY Fashion Week Get The Look: NYX Cosmetics at Imitation by Tara Subkoff

Share

New York makeup artist Tina Turnbow for NYX Cosmetics created the striking look seen at the Imitation by Tara Subkoff presentation

“The makeup for the Imitation presentation was inspired by designer, Tara Subkoff’s love of YSL, Helmut Newton and Debbie Harry,” said Tina Turnbow, Makeup Artist for NYX Cosmetics. “We collaborated together to create a look by NYX Cosmetics that was bold, yet distinctly feminine. I used dark shades of brown and taupe to give the eye dimension and then rimmed with black, kohl liner to enhance it and make it really pop. Because the eyes had a lot of shine and dimension, I wanted to keep the lip matte, but create something slightly different than the flat, bold color we’re seeing all over the runway. Therefore, I used a mixture of rust and grape colors that melded together for a unique finish and then blurred the edges for a modern 70s feel.”

63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards – Rashida Jones Makeup Look Breakdown

Share

Rashida Jones stepped onto the red carpet at the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards looking striking and elegant. Her red carpet look was created with the help of Makeup Artist Jo Strettell for Maybelline New York. Jo was inspired by Rashida’s vivacious personality and created a look using Maybelline New York’s latest products. To complement her dusty pink dress, Jo kept Rashida’s makeup classic and pretty. A dramatic eye and vibrant lip added unexpected edge and modernized the look.

I just love Rashida Jones. When I found out her makeup look for the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards consisted of Maybelline products, I knew I had to share with you all. I just love it when celebrities use drugstore products for big events!

Remington 3-in-1 Styler ($24.99)

My Thoughts:

I wanted a quick way to get beach wavy hair, and I believe I may have the answer. It’s the Remington 3-in-1 Styler! The Remington 3-in-1 Styler is a blow dryer that comes with 3 different attachments to achieve three different hair styles: sleek, voluminous, and beachy waves. All three attachments are easy to attach to the blow dryer and to remove. The blow dryer isn’t very heavy and is quite powerful. It’s not the most powerful blow dryer I’ve used, but it gets the job done. I know you’re most curious about the beach wave attachment so this review will mainly focus on that.

The beach wave attachment is basically like a tunnel. You slide a section of your wet hair into the tunnel and watch it whip around in circles as you dry your hair. It leaves your hair looking like dreadlocks! You pull apart the dreads and viola! Beach wavy hair! The waves are loose and subtle. I found if my hair was too wet (dripping wet) or damp then it didn’t work very well. Somewhere in the middle of dripping wet and damp worked the best, at least for me it did. I was quite surprised how well it worked and how long the waviness lasted (2-3 days) because my hair is so difficult to curl and never stays curled. Also, my hair didn’t end up frizzy like it always does after I blow dry my hair.

Overall, I feel the Remington 3-in-1 Styler is a great buy. For $25, you get a great blow dryer that can create different hairstyles. No complaints here!
